I tried using this as part of an impromptu Elgato chat link (as they are known not to work) and got much worse results than expected. The whole purpose was to stream my group chat and mic audio from my PS4 controller to my computer. I was careful to only get a 4 pin TRRS male to male extension cable and a 4 pin TRRS headset. I'll start with what most people might experience. Half the time I don't even hear ANY sound because of the absolutely horrible female connectors. Every 3.5mm audio jack I tried to plug in slipped out at the slightest tug. And even when fully plugged in, I was sometimes only able to get sound from the mic if I pushed the plug further in and held it there. The plug, on the other hand, works and feels exactly as it should. Moving on to PS4 controller connection: When I connect the headset to the PS4 controller, there is no problem. Extension between men, no problem. I plug this thing in and everything dies. For some reason it completely disables my headset's detachable mic (which is a 4-pin cable) and turns on the built-in mic and transfers the headset's audio to the built-in mic. The amount of echo and squeaks I heard after just 15 minutes of use is unrealistic. Now you might be thinking that the detachable mic disconnect might be a headset issue and not caused by this adapter, which is what I would be inclined to think. I agree. Had I not also tested the headset with my phone, both with and without the detachable microphone, there were no issues. I ALSO ran the same test with the adapter and found the same issues as when using it with a PS4 controller. Did I forget to mention that I had a second traditional TRRS headset? Because I tried too. And with them the sound was much quieter and there was no microphone sound YET.
