Review on Targus Versavu Rotating Keyboard THZ17101US by John Shitifano

As my electronics usually need to be protected from my own dishonesty I mostly use the Otterbox Defender case for my iPad but I needed a case a week-long conference for keyboards so I can take notes during meetings without having to lug my heavier, more expensive laptop around the conference center. My iPad fits securely in the locking tray, although I have to admit that I kept checking to make sure it was secure every time I opened the case, and the Bluetooth keyboard connected without a hitch every time. The case allowed me to rest the iPad on my lap for typing in both landscape and portrait modes, although it was a little more unstable in portrait mode as it was heavier at the top. I agree with other reviewers that the compact keyboard, including the need to press a function key to select some characters like ? and/were cumbersome at first, but based on other reviews I was expecting this issue and didn't find it affecting my usage needs. To be honest, I was surprised that the company was able to make the keyboard so easy to use, to fit the keyboard to the length of the iPad's screen, and since I'm touch typing, I appreciated the island-style keys with tactile press. I did notice that the case material needs to be wiped down quite often to keep it clean, which is not surprising for a white fabric, but it looks well made and protective and keeps all ports and cameras functional. For those who want to consistently maintain the thin and light feel of their iPad, this case will feel quite bulky, but being used to the Otterbox case I didn't find it a problem. Price, but if you intend to use it for heavy word processing, the changed keyboard layout will most likely not suit your needs. In fact, if I need to use my iPad for long typing when a table/desk is available, I continue to use my Otterbox and Bluetooth keyboard. But for word processing on your lap or other non-traditional areas, or for quick notes or emails, this device works great. I would definitely buy this item again.
