I've read in some reviews that this device didn't fully charge its controllers or that it was difficult to align the controller in the charger. I haven't had any of these problems. No USB charger/power adapter is supplied but it is meant to use at least 2 amps at 5 volts output. Anything below this rating will still work, but will take longer to charge. 2 amp USB chargers are available here on Amazon for under ten dollars, and if you have a Samsung phone the charger will likely be 2+ amps. I just use my phone charger and put the controllers back in. After inserting it into the charger, wait a few seconds for it to register and show the charging progress on the charger. Use the charge indicator on the controller, when fully charged, the LED will turn white. No problems, no spacers. The only issue I had was removing the micro USB adapters for firmware updates on the controller. They are very tight and require care when removing. I would recommend it to family and friends.
