I've had this wonderful camera for over a year and a half and couldn't get enough of it. I bought it on a whim because I wanted to start photography as a new hobby and now I'm addicted to it. This is probably the best DSLR for beginners and what better place to start with a film camera. Very easy to use and I could feel it after a few short weeks of shooting with it. The picture quality is fantastic and better than using a point and shoot camera in my opinion as you really have to take your time to get the right picture and that makes it more rewarding in my opinion. I currently live in Germany and on every trip I take, be it a simple festival or touring a castle, this camera is by my side along with at least a dozen rolls of film. I didn't even buy extra lenses, just used the included 50mm lens and for me it's versatile enough to shoot photos at anything I point it at. So if you're looking to get into photography, this is a great place to start. The Pentax K1000 far exceeded my expectations for a 35mm film camera and I will continue to use it, including with my Canon Rebel DSLR.
