THIS device helped my Samsung 4K Smart TV (UN43TU7000) transmit sound to my old Bose Companion 3 speaker/subsystem. Someone else posted a review with photos of the same Bose system so I had the feeling that it will work, and IT WORKS! Came with a power cord and plug so I plugged it into the converter box first, looked at the power LED light, then I plugged the included Toslink cable into the back of my TV and it clicked securely (the other converter system is NOT RELIABLE ) . went into the digital optical port on my tv and i couldnt get any sound with it so i knew as soon as I heard that click it was already a best buy). I then connected the other end of the Toslink to the converter block and switched the output selection to "Toslink" using the "Select" button on the front of the block (options "Toslink" or " Coaxial"). THEN I used the 3.5mm extension cable from the Bose subwoofer and BOOM! immediately delivered perfect sound from two Bose speakers connected to the subwoofer. At the same time, sound also comes out of the TV speakers. I didn't even have to go into the sound settings. I can get it to play audio from both the TV speaker and the Bose system if I leave the audio output setting to TV speakers and the digital audio output format to Auto. If I just want Bose, I change those settings to Optical and PCM. If I only want the TV speakers, I can just use the remote control to turn off the converter. The remote is great and allows you to control the output of the Bose speakers and you can also use the Samsung TV remote to control the sound coming from the TV itself. I can adjust the volume on the converter box either manually or with the remote, Bose rotary control (need to lift my lazy ass) and my TV with the Samsung remote to get the perfect audio output for every situation.
