I've tried several similar products and haven't found one that I'm really happy with. Out of everything I've tried, this one is my favorite. ADVANTAGES: + The rest is larger, so you have enough space when cooking to accommodate several spoons, ladles or tongs. + The position of the spoon holders is GOOD. usually you can find a place where the spoon doesn't touch the mat + The rest is good for catching drips and protects the countertop + The rest is silicone so heat resistant and pretty easy to clean + The rest has a little lip around it around that helps control potential leaks. CONS: - After washing, the rest has become cloudy. I know it's clean, but it doesn't look clean. The silicone coaster is not as easy to wipe and clean as a hard surface plate. There is no easy way to lean the lid against the stand. - all this is a useful product and I will keep using it until something better comes along. My biggest problem is the cloudy appearance. I may or may not order this again if needed.
