I bought these for my upcoming whitewater rafting trip but wore them for exercise (speed walking/aerobics). The big one fits well. I'm pear shaped and carry most of my weight on my back and hips. The dry wick shorts I bought at Walmart were also oversized so I would say they are true to size. But for training they were ok No slipping or riding up Note: Haven't worn them in the water yet Will update review when I do.
