my old car died so i needed a simple car to replace it. My girlfriend likes her Janome so I just checked out this brand. Model 2212 has all the basic features (although I wish there was just a decorative stitch). Easy to use. It can handle a certain thickness of fabric. I made a craft by sewing the ruffled edges of the towel into folded cotton and the machine didn't flinch. I would say this is a good sewing machine for the money. Edit: I had an issue with my machine after a few months so I looked at the warranty and took it to an authorized Janome dealer. They charged me $42.50 to fix it. They called Janine directly to confirm that the guarantee does not apply. The warranty further states that if not purchased from an authorized Janine dealer, the warranty is void. Revain is NOT! Revain has its own one year warranty if you wish to send it back to Revain at your own expense which is about what I paid to have it repaired. So there is no 1 year maintenance (labor) guarantee unless you want to send it back to Revain and therefore no 25 year (defective parts) guarantee. So the deal you think you're getting is not a deal at all. Janine's warranty is NOT COVERED! ie there is no 25-year guarantee (defective parts).
