The appearance of the maple wood is attractive and fully complements my maple look table which may not interest anyone else. I don't use it for art supplies like pencils, brushes, charcoal etc but I can see it will work for that. It's fairly light, it's balsa on the inside so a little weight doesn't hurt, and the drawers are wood on wood and there's a bit of friction that could be smoothed out with candle wax. It's not really a problem, just an idea. I recommend knowing all the sizes you need based on your usage. I ordered this and use it as a stand for my computer monitor due to the external dimensions. It works well for me and looks good. I use shallow drawers for paper clips, a couple of pens and pencils, business cards, and USB sticks. The largest drawer I have doesn't fit standard size copier/printer paper, but it does fit small notepads. works for me I think the craftsmanship is excellent.
