We spent a very long time choosing a vintage floor fan that was all metal. I was surprised at how difficult it was to find a fan with such relatively simple criteria. Many of the fans we found had a "vintage look" but were cheap and some were made of plastic. Or plastic-coated plastic. Or"Resin". this. more plastic. Or wouldn't tell you what materials they were made from. Or were just desktop sizes. Etc. This fan, on the other hand, is 100% metal, has a great vintage look, and is heavy. Every part of it is metal, including the fan blades. And the metal isn't cheap, flimsy metal. It's heavy, durable. A pet or a drunk uncle can't knock it over so easily. That's exactly what we wanted. Other reviewers complained that the fan was too "loud" and the fan speed was too high for their liking. Well maybe. However, I would argue that "loud" is a subjective judgment and whether or not you consider it loud depends on what you want and what your expectations are. The reason we bought this fan is that we not only wanted a vintage look but also a vintage fan feel from another era. This fan reminds me of something from the 1940's, like Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman should be sitting in a room with us in Casablanca. And the fans were louder then than they are now. So for me the volume is not a minus, but rather a plus. It's more what I would expect from a vintage fan. I would also say that the volume is far from overwhelming. Although I would moderate it by saying that the volume is noticeable on "high" settings. Some people might not like this band. But in general, I disagree with the reviewers who say it's too loud. To me, that's normal volume and not a "quiet whisper" like many modern fans. So if you're looking for a quiet whisper, especially at all settings, including "High", then this isn't your fan. But I think the volume issue is overdone. So if you are happy with the normal noise level and maybe even like it, then this fan is for you. I liked everything about it. qualitative. Price. Watch. airflow volume. Vibration. Ability to adjust the fan angle up and down. all metal. Assembly was extremely easy. We didn't have the problems that others have had with difficulty pulling the cable through the inside of the fan, throwing away tiny screws or whatever. It took ten minutes to set up and is now in our dining room. Maybe we just got lucky and got one of the good guys, but I'm still very happy.
