Review on 🍲 Corningware 20 Ounce Vented French White: Superior Heat Distribution and Ventilation for Perfect Cooking Results by Grant Galloway

Great mug, lousy instructions, WHY did the price go up?

I've only had this mug recently (about a week) but I love it. I think the size is perfect for many things, including the cup of oatmeal I eat at my desk (in my home office) every morning. The handle feels like it could use a little more durability, like it might break if dropped in a sink, but overall it looks very well made and I'm happy with it. I have some questions about the cover. One of the reasons (besides the size) for buying this mug is that I thought the lid would keep things warm while I work, but so far I haven't used it (the lid) for cooking. Microwave mug with lid comes without instructions. Do you leave the plug in the hole? Will it show up on its own? There are general directions for using Corningware in the box, but what about that damn lid? There is a customer video that says the lid pops open on its own when cooking and needs to release steam/pressure, but why don't the people who do it tell you that? See also: PRICE! A few weeks ago I paid $6.97 for this mug and now it's $8.47. Why such a sudden price jump of 20%? Beware of the prices for this kind of stuff - they tend to go up fast and that's very annoying. PRICE UPDATE: The price has gone up again. A few weeks ago I paid $6.97 and now it's only $8.99. I can't help but think it's holiday cookie cutters. It rose $2.02 per cup. Ridiculous.

Pros
  • Cups, mugs and saucers
Cons
  • A dubious purchase for the elderly
