Installed this in the dashboard so I didn't have to fiddle with the USB cable when using Android Auto. It works great and doesn't cause any lag when using Android Auto. The flaps are very close to the trim tab, which should be installed outside the dashboard. When pushed through, the clips don't want to snap into place because the plastic on the dash was thicker than the gap between the tabs and the front of the connector. I had to trim off the protrusions a bit (as much as possible). This made him free. I ended up smearing it with contact glue and it worked. Overall it works and I'm happy with it, but if I had to redo it I would buy one that has threads and a nut to hold it in place. I don't think there is a piece of plastic on a dashboard that is as thin as the gap between the clips and the face of the USB connector.
