Review on Philips 194RLED Ultinon LED Bulb (Red) by Donna Taflinger

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Superb bulbs with guarantee

These bulbs are PERFECT! I've spent a lot of money on various websites over the past 6 months trying out the cheap name brand LEDs that you can get for a dollar each and let me tell you they've never worked well. I have a Silverado 05 with headlights that are perfect for the old halogen bulbs. The "super bright" LEDs I've tried (you know, the ones with a million little chips sticking out) never fit because the lamp base is much wider than a standard halogen 194. Even the ones with a longer plug don't fit. They were inserted just far enough into the socket to glow and not fall out, but they were never fully inserted. They are a bit wider than the original bulbs but fit right in there and provide the perfect space to refit the reflector around them. . I'll update this review with an accurate width measurement after running a caliper through one of the bulbs. And they're actually kind of brighter than any of the others I've tried, although compared to other lights they're only about 1/3 the size to work with, and there's a matte plastic cover over the light. Potato Chips. Which is another plus with them. I've had cheap LEDs that leave a type of black soot on the diffuser that I identified as burnt material from the edges of the board the chips are mounted on. With a fully sealed bottle, you don't have to worry about chip dust. So to summarize.1. Crisp white and very bright light.2. Airtight piston to reduce the likelihood of moisture build-up and prevent chips from detaching/dusting.3. Strong, thick pins on the plug that fit snugly into the outlet.4. Just slightly wider than the standard 194 (not wide enough to make installation difficult).5. The cost at the time of purchase is almost $5 less than 194 other manufacturers. These lamps come with an 8 YEAR GUARANTEE! Spectacular product from Philips! I swap every lightbulb in my truck for LED, and if Philips makes the lightbulb I want, I buy the Philips brand. Update: It's been over a year now and they still light up my truck with the intensity of 1000 suns. .
