Bought this for an embroidery needle to take on a flight in case my small pair of scissors weren't allowed on board. The wire is strong and only fits a #7 or #8 embroidery needle, depending on how many individual strands of embroidery thread you are using. A cutter is only good if you hold the thread taut and basically saw through it. It's ok, but I wouldn't buy it again.
