This is great support and protection for serious calf injuries. If you have a calf injury, first wrap it with a 4 inch elastic bandage with velcro (it's velcro) and then use a calf bandage. In my opinion, the bandage is made of durable material and Velcro. I think it might help with running to prevent injury. I'll buy another one as a backup. It didn't have a bad smell. It may be a little loose for a child or a very thin person. This orthosis should last for many years. Washing with cold water/soap and placing in front of a fan works for me. Works as advertised.
