I bought this luggage rack for my beach house. The problem was that I would just live without my luggage and everything would fall apart on the floor. With this luggage rack, like any other luggage rack, I keep my suitcase off the ground and within reach. The special thing about this shelf is the fabric basket. You can use this basket for anything. Of course you will use it for washing and store it in your suitcase separately from clean clothes. Simply remove the guides and toss your laundry, basket and everything else in the wash. I use for shoes. I usually take a variety of shoes - trainers, flip flops, moccasins etc. You can organize the area by throwing them all in the trash so you don't trip over them. I'm thinking of putting another one on the porch by the front door. Throw your sandals in here and keep sand out of the house. If you're thinking of a porter, get it with a basket. You'll find a use for the basket, I'm sure.
