This is a very nice large rain shower head. It feels very heavy and solid, and with the flow restrictor removed makes for an almost torrential downpour. However, this is where the positives end. Cons: 1. As shown in the first two photos, this thing has a weird separate collar with a set screw. The picture may not show that the set screw is in a ring/ring that slides up when the set screw is loosened, but it is. The collar is unthreaded and the set screw hole you see goes through the collar and through the threaded hole in the mounting collar to the male threads on the rod coming out of the wall. I'm not sure what the heck the designer was thinking of when creating this abomination, but it's something I've never seen before and it's awful. Even with a good layer of teflon tape as shown in the photos, I had to tighten this thing a lot harder than usual to almost stop it from leaking. It still leaks a bit even without the flow restrictor to make leaks more likely and I think it's leaking through the set screw hole. In any case, a set screw hole means that instead of a 3/8 inch thread protected with Teflon to prevent leaks, you have less than 1/8 inch before you reach the set screw hole. Just completely brain dead. I can only assume that the set screw is a form of anti-theft device when installed in a rental apartment or hotel. But of course this is a theft that will be caught and charged to the renter immediately if they have stolen it. It's a star or two.2. As you can also see from the photos this collar means there is very little room for a wrench on the two small flat pieces at the neck. Unlike a regular neck that has flat pieces running from the top to the bottom of the neck so it's very easy to fit a wrench, you only have these two tiny spots to work on and you can't put a big crescent wrench on them attach . because he is too fat. Many people don't have a skinny 17mm open-end wrench, so a crescent wrench is the most likely option. Luckily, I had a small crescent wrench that was thin enough to fit in the gap between the fancy single-screw collar and the standard collar built into the showerhead. This is another star deduction.3. The smallest shortcoming is the one with the "smart" flow limiter. Instead of something that would come off easily once the rubber washer was removed, they were meant to be complex and dig deep into your throat, so you'd probably need a special tool, which I had on hand to pull it out. If you want water saving features in your products, that's fine, but don't try to be authoritarian and force people to deal with unsatisfactory flow. This is another star deduction.4. The price is astronomical for a separate shower head. For the matte black 2.5 GPM model I got it's $425 right now! At least one version costs $495! The cheapest still cost almost $400. At these prices you should deduct at least one star even without any defects, just for the absurd price. It's a shame to give such a beautiful sanitary ware a star, but it really is a worthy review for this product. .
