Food for picky cats

I've tried different types of food for two picky eaters over the years. Friskies, Blue Buffalo, Nutrish, Wellness, Nature's Variety, Science Diet, etc. I've tried pretty much every mainstream product on the market. They don't touch some brands, others eat for a day or two and then refuse, or bite off a piece and leave. When they eat a can, they usually throw it up within an hour or two. It's not like they're fancy breed cats with a delicate build, both short haired rescued street cats. They have been to the vet multiple times and two different vets have found nothing wrong with them. I tried giving them only one meal a day and eating dinner when they weren't eating. The cats had been starving for six days so I gave up and looked for another brand that I hadn't tried yet. Royal Canin was one of the few brands I hadn't tried, so when someone recommended their Digest Sensitive brand, I brought home a few cans. They each ate a can of it for dinner and, unlike usual, they ate it all. Then they did it the next night. And the next night. It's been a month since I took Royal Canin. They no longer tear up dinner and when it's time for dinner they'll beg for food. However, you will only eat the cut version. This also comes in a "loaf" version, which is really just RC's marketing term for a standard pie. Cats despise pie and will not even eat the Royal Canin version. Yes, it's expensive, but as other buyers have noted, it's worth it. I don't have to throw away uneaten cat food or risk breaking my neck by slipping on cat puke. And if you think the price of Revain is high, try buying it at your local pet store. I was looking for a cheaper price and it costs 20-40% more locally. Now that I know cats will eat it, I plan on going ahead and signing up for a discount. Update: after four weeks my picky cats got bored and stopped eating it. On the advice of another reviewer I just switched to something else for two days and now they will be eating again. If you have this drink on hand for a long time, keep a few cans of other brands/flavors on hand to switch from time to time.
