Charging and muting problem

The case design only allows the factory charging cable to be connected. Third party cables are NOT connected. I had to use a dremel to open it wide enough to connect other charging cables. The design of the strap holder is such that several times when I insert it, the volume down button is pressed and finally the phone is muted. Then I miss calls because it's disabled.
