Bought this camera for my daughter after reading a number of reviews and was very pleasantly surprised . I've owned several DSLRs, from early generations to interchangeable lens DSLRs, and it meets or exceeds almost all of them (DSLRs are slightly better for on-the-go photography). The video quality is so amazing that we have stopped using our camcorder and use it almost exclusively. The sound quality with the built-in microphone is quite good. We recorded our daughter's concert and the audio was pretty decent (the video was fantastic). We've had this camera for about six months and it's survived a trip to Disney World, prom and prom and a number of concerts and games. Two things to note: 1. The camera is not the thinnest/smallest in its category. Although it is not big, it is about two iPhones thick, a bit big to put in your pocket, but it's pretty easy to carry around in your pocket or purse.2. You CANNOT zoom in or out while recording a video. For us this was not a serious problem, but it could become a problem. I just stop recording, zoom in and start recording. Despite these two small issues, my daughter loves it.
