The adapter worked perfectly right out of the box. Highly recommended as a replacement for an Apple OEM charger at a fraction of the cost. Note, however, that this charger only has a plug, not an Apple plug, for approximately 6-foot power cords for wall outlets. This wasn't a problem for us as we simply replaced the single plug on the new charger with the plug on the power cord from the Apple device. Our new pup ate the charging cable on the Apple charger but left the power cord intact - we were lucky.
