I had no idea what was there before but most of the rescued meat was burned in the freezer. Now I can easily get to the garbage cans downstairs, I can see what's inside and there's nothing hiding behind them. Everything is available with much less effort and is therefore more likely to be used. A narrow basket in the freezer door for lunch ice packs. Three narrow baskets fit in the fridge: One holds all of my husband's lunch sandwiches (mayonnaise, cheese, meat, spreads, sandwich bacon). He finds it useful to pull everything out instead of opening the cheese drawer. We lost some of his meat at the bottom of the fridge, but now he can use anything too. Between those bins and having groceries displayed out the door, we're more likely to consume groceries before the expiration date!
