This sturdy case is 2cm thick when closed and the magnetic drawstring closure folds back fully when idle, so it doesn't generally get in the way of viewing. Holds up very well in landscape mode, not really designed for vertical viewing, but you can get away with it on a hard, stable surface. Available in many different designs, which is nice, it has a vinyl-like textured finish that's great for keeping it in place, but if you're looking for a soft leather feel, not so much. The flexible sleeve that holds the iPad fits snugly around my iPad mini 4 and doesn't cover any of my favorite screens. All connections are easily accessible and the corners of the iPad are well protected in the event of a fall. This case doesn't have a built-in screen protector, which I prefer, but some people might miss it.
