Threads stuck out and the stitching on the shorter strap was askew, exposing the white foam inside. I cut the threads and painted the foam with a black marker to match the bag, but it still looked like a cheap piece of junk. Upset that I wasted my money, I decided to make it look like I expected before admitting defeat. .This is how I achieved what can be seen in the photo: First I wiped the bag of alcohol with a rag (now it is quite gray). This allegedly takes away the insidious shine of the imitation leather. upset the surface. I tried to mimic how the bag would be carried naturally, but I got bored and just gave it a good cleaning. Then I rubbed it again with rubbing alcohol. At this point, the color resembled charcoal more than black, and I mocked the "skin" so much I feared it would crack and peel off. I treated it with mink oil to restore the color and protect the material. This made the bag black and shiny again, only this time it looked like leather. Somehow the alcohol and mink oil have the added benefit of softening the material and now the bag hangs down like I originally hoped! I give this product three stars because the foam is visible, the zippers are stiff and uncomfortable, and it took a lot of effort to keep it looking good. I'm very happy with the bag now (in my ideal world the hardware would be silver instead of gold) but only time will tell if it holds up well. If not, I will most likely blame his untimely death combined with my mistreatment and poor quality of work. In order not to waste this effort, I suggest the following: - Take the brown version.
