Newer version = less reinforcement

Fair standing. I had the same unit for ten years, it took a beating, the box broke and started to bend a bit. but that was after ten years. So. When I got the new one and replaced it, I immediately noticed that my old one was heavier. If you flip them both, my old unit had a metal stiffening bar that ran diagonally across the floor. The new one (same model) had nothing. Now they produce it without the metal reinforced bottom. Oh, maybe I'll order another version? nope The product sheet inside the package still shows the metal bar. So you save costs by doing away with the metal bar but still using your old packaging. I kept everything I said. It still feels solid and weighs 20 pounds more than my iMac. The drawer is a little wobbly. People complained that they received a device with broken packaging. There are two plastic bolts, one on each side, that hold the drawer in place. They break easily, my old one too. Note that you can still use the stand if the drawer breaks, and removing it actually gives you more space to tuck items under the stand.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Damaged
