I recently renovated our guest room and needed a headboard for a new bed. I chose this one because I liked the look of it and the dimensions were exactly what I needed. For reference, the mattress rests on an 18" Zinus Smartbase and I purchased the matching headboard brackets separately. I live in a Cape Cod style house which means EVERY upstairs room has sloping ceilings. I hate it because it really limits the furniture. You can put it against the walls as the height is only about 49 inches. It was therefore important to find a suitable headboard. In the end, I decided that a height-adjustable headboard was ideal because even if a height-adjustable headboard meets the height specifications on paper. , there was a chance it might be too tall if the posts had to be raised off the ground when attaching to the headboard brackets. When I unpacked this headboard everything seemed perfect. No damage. There are only three parts to assemble: two posts and a headboard. Unfortunately, these three pieces were the only items in the box. There were no assembly instructions or hardware. Normally I would just ask for an exchange or contact the seller. I wanted to request the missing hardware, but I couldn't wait to assemble it NOW. The only problem was that I had no idea what equipment I needed. Once I knew what screws I needed, I sent them to my husband and they turned out to be more expensive than expected. FYI you will need four M8 1.25 x 45mm screws. Once I had them, assembly was very easy. I wouldn't need instructions if it was in the box. You simply insert two screws on each side at the desired height of the headboard. And if, like me, you get the height wrong on the first try, it's really easy to unscrew and adjust. It attaches perfectly to the Zinus frame and is definitely sturdy. Overall the headboard is okay, but I don't think it performs as well when set too low. I don't think it's a header bug; It's a combination of the height of the bed platform (18 inches), the height of my mattress (13 inches), and the height of the wall (49 inches). In hindsight I probably should have bought a 14" platform but I just find that an 18" bed is more comfortable to get in and out of. Since the platform is so high and I can't make the headboard any higher because of the ceiling, there is definitely a situation where the headboard is cut off the platform by a few inches. Basically it prevents the mattress from sliding underneath because there is no space. So those inches of mattress are pushed past the foot end of the bed. It's not too strong, but it's definitely noticeable unless you have a long blanket to hide the mattress. I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5 as my only other issue is that I think the G padding could be a little more substantial. It's a little stiff, especially compared to the upholstered Zinus headboard in the master bedroom, which looks very similar. Since I sleep on my stomach, my hands and arms are always on the headboard, so comfort is important to me, while it might not be to others. It just comes down to personal preference.
