Great concept but not perfected

I justified the amount of money I spent on this by considering it an 'investment' in my 'entertainment costs' because I enjoy it a lot, every now and then time to relax with a jigsaw puzzle. Time. . Overall I like this concept and I plan to use it for my puzzles in the future to get them out of the way when needed. I like a non-slip surface so the pieces stay in place better. With the Puzzle Pal, I have found that the fabric does not lay flat under the puzzle because there are floating air pockets or "bubbles" that cause the pieces to not stay in place and sometimes even fall apart. I've tried drilling a few holes in it to release airflow, but it doesn't help. I may have to cut the fabric along the edges with an exacto knife to fix the problem permanently, which seems a bit drastic. I don't like the idea of "fixing" something that expensive, but I'll try because I love everything else about it. Its size is great for solving big puzzles, but it's a bit awkward to move around without a handle. The Velcro straps are sturdy and keep the puzzles secure and in place, although it's not easy to take the Velcro apart again if you want to continue the puzzle. The edges that curl up at the top and bottom of the Puzzle Pal also need to be finished. They are very stiff and don't open well, but I think this will improve over time. Bottom line, I still think it was a good investment and I'll enjoy using it, but I'm frustrated that I have to cut the fabric to lay flat. Apparently sewing the seams during manufacture causes a problem. I would advise you to glue them before sewing.
