Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub should smell nice, right? Sweet and tasty like a dessert. Well, this Natural Riches body scrub smells awful. The ingredient list is fantastic: almond, vanilla, jojoba, grapefruit, lemongrass, and orange oils, as well as vitamin E. But how can all those good-smelling scents smell so awful? Smells like barbecue sauce. Ladies, you can buy this for your boyfriend, but you probably don't want to use it yourself. However, I tried it for this review. Luckily the awful smell didn't transfer to my skin. Because the scrub itself is made of brown sugar, the molecules are very small and break down quickly. You have to work fast to remove dead skin cells. But I'll give credit where it's due: the scrub itself is effective. Another note: since it's made of brown sugar, it sticks together like brown sugar. When I next opened the jar to use it (five days later) it had four dry, hard lumps that needed to be broken open. The instructions also state that you should mix the entire contents with your fingers before using them for the first time in order to distribute the oils evenly. Again, this is because the brown sugar is so fine that the oils just sink to the bottom. It's a real mess when you do this and it doesn't last long anyway (hard lumps).
