Sir, it's waxy/chalky, not smooth at all, even rough. But use your clean finger to rub it in. I'd rather have a product that's toxin-free and thick than a stinky, chemical-smelling liquid that slides right off my nose and lips. I used to use drugstore lip sunscreen and reapply every 30 minutes. This sticks. I use it on my face and body in addition to Blue Lizard. I am prone to skin cancer. So far this product is working well as evidenced by the fact that I don't get blisters from the sun. I use it almost every day. I'm outside a lot.
