I've had this system for 9 months now. My breed of dog is the Australian Cattle Dog and I have tried it with three different dogs. It works fairly well but has some downsides and results vary from dog to dog. We've never played around with setting border flags. Just hooked up the transmitter. After 1-2 adjustments, the dogs quickly found that they would stop as soon as the collar began to squeak. I have 1 regular pen and 1 long pen. I have a man who crashes into a barrier at breakneck speed, just breaks through and kind of shakes his head. I tested the collar and used longer bars that should go through a thicker coated dog. For some reason he overdid it, which is typical of this breed. However, it works great with my other two dogs of the same breed. So I would say this would be a good choice for most dogs. We've tried this on 3 different spots in the house to get the border where we want it. You can adjust the size of the area you want. This basically makes a circle around your house. We had an issue with 1 spot with a blind spot on the other side so always check before letting the dogs out. Be sure to follow the directions and take it off at night or whenever it's not necessary. Because one of my dogs stays out all night I didn't remove the collar for fear she might run away and he rubbed two sores on her neck. It's my fault for not following the instructions, not the collar issue. I had to contact PetSafe twice, once because the collar was not syncing with the transmitter and once when I left the collar outside in the kennel and my dog was chewing on the buckle. Your customer service is incredible. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. I like that we don't have an ugly fence blocking our view. I love that the system is portable and we can also take it camping in our RV. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet. My dogs can play and romp pretty freely all day long, no need to lock them in a cage or tie them to a rope. It just keeps them close to home, which is exactly what I wanted.
