I received an industrial bedside table from SONGMICS as a gift and had great expectations of a worthy bedside table. Assembly using the included small L-shaped hex keys was a little slow and tedious - not least due to the limited physical access afforded by the mechanical design of the assembly hardware. The so-called "pull out" units are ridiculously sluggish and easily fold in on the sides of the drawers, which aren't at all secure enough to fold them back in to their original transport configuration, instead of acting like drawers. This would be relatively easy and inexpensive for the manufacturer to fix (by providing thin, flat plastic inserts to support drawer assemblies). I shake my head in amazement as to why this obvious solution was ignored. I ended up cutting the (outer) cardboard packaging to make three inserts from flat sections of cardboard (cut to about 16.5" x 14.5" to leave some slack for easier insertion) attached to the bottom of each of the three boxes are placed. Fortunately, this modification keeps the crates from becoming unusable.[2] I think the "rustic" wood finish that appears on the top of the device is just an "image" somehow printed onto the surface. Probably no. In any case, the surface appears to be the ugliest wooden surface imaginable — the kind of stained and knotted surface I imagine most people would rather throw in the trash than ever use as a cover use. Furniture. Find out.[3] The non-removable (not messed up) warning sticker tucked into the top corner of the (probably fake) wood finish is the icing on the cake. Apparently, the manufacturer is so paranoid about the potential civil liability related to tort claims that it fears buyers will have to live with such an ugly stain. This product can really be improved by solving the (above three) problems and concerns.
