Review on ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Polarized Aluminum Night Driving Glasses by Phil Kowal

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not magic, but a big benefit

I find these goggles very useful when driving at night and like to wear them as eye protection when fly fishing when it's too dark to wear sunglasses. In terms of glare, they don't magically dim the bright SUV lights or remove all glare, but they make little difference. I guess some of the negative comments come from people with unrealistic expectations. Even the best and most expensive polarized lenses cannot completely eliminate glare or turn headlights into dull circles. They just take away the visual acuity, and that's exactly what they do. As someone with dry eyes, I find they help keep air from getting into the eyes. When I'm driving or fishing at night, amber lenses brighten up my surroundings, making dawn and dusk feel more daytime than usual. These glasses are light and strong, and although my wife says they make me look silly, I find them I think they look pretty good as night driving goggles. The only thing I didn't like was that the nose pads had an odd rubber/plastic smell when I first took them out of the box, although this smell went away after leaving them out of the case for a while. completely gone and no longer a problem. If I ever lost them I would buy them again.

Pros
  • Less glare for safer driving: Oncoming headlights and bright streetlights are not only difficult to see, they can also be a major distraction and potentially dangerous. With amber tinted lenses, these goggles act like night vision goggles, reducing glare, reflections and their negative effects, enhancing and brightening your field of vision.
Cons
  • Hardly ever
