I bought this camera to monitor my garden and pool. This camera has 5 things I need: - Local storage on my own microSD card (up to 128GB) so I don't have to pay for cloud services or rely on cloud connectivity - WiFi and Ethernet ports - I use Ethernet when I can and Wi-Fi when I need it - High weather resistance so it works even in a salty seaside environment - Good picture quality - Good app for Android and Iphone so I can watch live streams and the can play history, again the same without using cloud-based services or paying fees for them. This camera met all 5 requirements for me and the price was attractive. I put in a 128GB card, everything works. It can be configured for ONVIF and RTSP for use with any security system without having to pay to use the cloud. It has Wi-Fi and an RJ45 Ethernet port. As far as weather protection goes, I have installed several SV3C outdoor IP cameras over the past 3+ years. I haven't had any problems or crashes so far. Two of the installations are for oceanfront lots (Maine and Florida) and the other lot is in San Jose, California. All chambers are exposed to the elements. They continue to function and look almost new. This new PTZ seems to be of the same quality so I expect it to last a long time. The time will show. The image quality from this camera was better than I expected, especially the 5x true optical zoom. I have attached 3 photos so you can get an idea. A shot is a full camera feed from my backyard. I put the license plate on the back fence 30 meters from the camera marked with the red arrow in the photo. You can hardly see it in the first picture. For reference, the original image was 2560 x 1920 pixels. The second image is the same as the first, but I've adjusted the image to show a 1:1 pixel so you can see the actual image details. Revain won't let me upload a full resolution image so you can better see the resolution of the actual image. In the third shot, I show the camera still pointing at the same spot but zoomed in fully with 5x optical zoom. You can see the license number pretty well on the back fence 30 meters from us. Impressive. Pan/tilt and zoom work smoothly, if a bit slow. The pan rotates 360 degrees. The tilt changes from 90 degrees (straight ahead) to 180 degrees (straight down). I really wish these PTZ cameras would "tilt up" a bit, but so far I haven't found a reasonably priced camera that does. A full pan from left to right (360 degrees) takes about 12 seconds, which is pretty slow but quite normal in my experience. The new CamHi Pro app (free) is a huge improvement over the old and less functional legacy CamHi app. The biggest improvement for me is the ability to view playback of videos stored on the camera's SD card through a time-based interface similar to Wyze and others. I have attached a screenshot for clarification. Previously, you had to download and play each video file individually to find the action. Now just scroll through the timeline to see which action is which. This makes the SV3C as good as cloud cameras, but without having to pay for them or rely on the cloud. By the way, if you still like the old way of browsing files for files, it's still here. Overall, I'm very impressed with this PTZ camera and grateful for the much-improved CamHi Pro app with timeline-based activity playback. I'll probably buy a few more cameras of this version to replace some of the non-PTZ cameras I've installed in the past.
