Very soft, good weave. I washed before use and then found a broken thread. My machines are new, the washer or dryer doesn't have a center basket or anything else that would cause problems. When washing really no precipitation fell from the ceiling. You can see that the washtub was almost clean with only a few lints left. The dryer was where the blanket was thrown off. Complete lint filter! But this is typical of cotton quilts and to be expected. I like the duvet, I would recommend it and I might buy another one. Deeply intricate edges at the top and bottom give it a luxe feel.
