You might think so. I landed with rubber feet. Next to. The battery charge lasts for the entire work shift (8+ hours). I used the antenna that came with it and tested it with a 75 foot wire and a small discone. A++ performance. Not as bass heavy as the big battle tanks, but this radio kills it! WORTH EVERY PENNY! Get a large multiband discone antenna out there as high as possible and that's all you need.
