Review on πŸ“· GE Power Pro X500-WH 16 MP Digital Camera, White (OLD MODEL) with 15x Optical Zoom by Kelly Johnston

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good camera, even better price.

The main reason I chose this camera was the price. Revain discounted it by 34%, what a bargain! I was concerned about the quality of the camera given it was so discounted, but I was pleasantly surprised. Before this purchase, I looked at expensive DSLRs. When I saw the price I realized that I could never afford such a camera with my limited student budget and was so discouraged that I thought I would never be able to upgrade my Nikon Coolpix 8MP camera. The Power Pro X500 was the perfect compromise and fit my budget. Pros: - Great grip. I no longer have to worry about dropping my camera and I get much clearer shots. -High Megapixels: Gives my photos more clarity. -Panorama tool: I love taking panoramas and with this camera it's very easy. -Fish Eye Tool: Sometimes I just like taking fun, unusual photos. Battery life: So far the battery life seems to be pretty good. Manual Settings: This camera offers full manual settings and gives you nice tips on recommended apertures and shutter speeds for different subjects. which makes learning easier. Shoulder strap: I've never owned a camera with a shoulder strap and to my surprise I like it. I never worry about dropping my camera as it now hangs around my neck most of the time. - Automatic settings: The automatic settings (both scene mode and auto mode) seem decent and good for when I'm in a hurry. However, I recommend using manual settings to get the most out of your camera. - Zoom: Incredible zoom. With the zoom, I can easily see the mountain caps that extend near my town. I believe that photographing wildlife from a distance will also be easier with this zoom. - Price: Seriously, what could be better than $99? - Hand Stabilization: My hands shake, so I often get blurry photos, but not with this camera. Each of my photos came out crystal clear. Cons: Batteries: I would prefer a rechargeable battery to AA batteries every day. User's Guide: The User's Guide was provided on a CD, not paper. Going paperless is cool and green and all, but reading the instruction manual from a computer is tedious. It would be nice to have a paper manual to put in my camera bag in case I'm away from my computer and want to update some camera settings. - Image memory: There is enough space in the camera itself. It can store 3 images, forcing you to invest in a memory card. - Flash: The Flash settings are not very customizable. - .jpg: This camera only allows you to shoot in JPG format, not in .RAW format that all professionals use. Overall, I'm glad I discovered this camera and made the purchase. My hobby is thriving and I've learned a lot with this camera. Now I take my camera everywhere and took some really great photos. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone who wants to shoot like a pro but doesn't have the money to buy a DSLR.
