The fan was well packed, easy to unpack and assemble. It looks beautiful and is designed for easy operation. Runs relatively smoothly at all three speeds. I bought it for outdoors. Compared to a replacement fan that is around 10 years old, the new fan is not very well made. The new fan is not designed for heavy outdoor applications such as patio installations as it is too light. Moderately strong winds can topple it. I replaced the included weight, which is only about 3 pounds, with a much heavier weight to make it strong enough to handle high winds when the fan is fully extended. I added a 15 pound stainless steel round washer that was about the same size as the original weight and used the original set screw and a large washer to secure it. The mounting and control knobs on the fan are "tiny" and "minimal" in my opinion. It would help if they were larger like those used to adjust the handlebars on lawnmowers. Also, a plug with a built-in reset button at the end of the cable, designed for safety, required a short pigtail for connection to an outdoor wall outlet. I would have preferred the reset button to be in line with the 3-4 inch installation stem so it could easily be inserted into a wall or remote outlet without having to make any adjustments. With the two changes noted, the fan worked as described and looks decent. It's well designed for patio use and seems to work well in a more enclosed space. It is attractive enough for indoor use. Looking back, I doubt I would buy this fan again for outdoor use. In short, the fan seems designed for lighter applications than I intended. All of this to say I love the fan and would use one on my patio for any outdoor living. A well-folded, water-repellent case is intended to protect against external influences, but from a functional point of view it is disruptive.
