I really like these wooden puzzles from ROKR. As usual this wood is of very good quality, fun to assemble and the finished product looks great. Use plenty of wax on all suggested surfaces as this one has many gears and moving parts. If you have ever liked building model cars or airplanes, you will enjoy this type of "puzzle" very much. Definitely suitable for children over 14 years old, as it requires some very small details and detailed, meticulous work that requires some patience! Well, the reason for 4 and not 5 stars is this: I read, understood and followed the instructions very carefully to use the code I wanted in the box. However, after going through all the necessary steps to get the code and correctly place the parts required for that code, and after double, triple, and quadruple checking the procedure and placing the parts, it didn't work. I even took it apart and double checked. Bad luck. Takaaaaa. As someone else mentioned in their review, I figured out what code would work by watching the wheels while moving the knob with the numbers on it. How do you do this. With the puzzle disassembled enough that you can see wheels P1, P2 and P3 in place, turn the dial (with the numbers) on the front of the box counter-clockwise at least 2 turns, then rotate further and observe the farthest one (from the dial). ) wheel to raise the "gap" in the wheel to a position where the lock/hook can move back and sit in the "gap". even if the other 2 wheels still won't let the hook move. Look on the dial for the number that matches the dark pointed mark on the front of the box under the dial. This is the first digit of your code. Then turn the dial clockwise at least 1 full turn and then keep turning until you see the middle wheel picking up the same type of "bug" that the lock/hook will fall into. You should stop when it matches the "dip". You lined up on the first wheel. Now, as before, read the number on the dial to get the second number in the code. Now turn the dial counter-clockwise and watch as the 'hollow' on the front wheel rises and aligns with the 'hollows' on the other two wheels, allowing the lock/hook to fall into the 'open' position. Read the number. on the dial again, as before, and this is the 3rd digit of your code to open the box! I know this is wordy, but I hope this helps someone else not throw away this beautiful, fun box. Your manufacturer really needs to deal with these codes. Obviously not all the codes you can choose from their table will work. I got mine EXACTLY as advertised and it didn't work. But you can find code that works when yours doesn't either. Buy it, it's fun. Start it on sale and it's really worth it! I paid about $20 for a limited time sale! :)
