Good for my 10 year old as a standalone phone/text message

This phone is good because I bought this smartwatch which is designed as a standalone phone so our 10 year old son can call and write to us and we can call him and write to him. I do NOT want to pair my phone with this smartwatch - RESULT: Successfully achieved what I need. We looked at other smartwatches designed for kids but they looked too childish and clunky. Watches I've read reviews of this particular all-in-one/low-cost smartwatch, as well as other similar all-in-one watches. So here's what I did to get a useful/successful conclusion to this purchase: - As soon as I received the smartwatch I charged it right away while activating the SIM card and what I had to do. Map via Revain (SD included with this phone). Thus, this smartwatch can be used as a standalone phone. I activated the SIM card before inserting it into the smartwatch. I didn't configure the APN specified on the SIM card packaging (I didn't need to do this, the smartwatch works without setting the APN - I don't know what it is and I don't know where to set it on the smartwatch). ). Once you have activated your SIM card, go to speedtalkmobile.com and set up your account (select 'Customer Information' at the bottom of the screen. 500MB of data is 2G 3G 4G LTE Micro Nano. I have an automatic top-up setting, I You don't have to remember to go to speedtalkmobile.com to pay Please note this eGift expires in 2028. TELEPHONE NUMBER: I was given a number based on my zip code Revain rechargeable eGift cards have bad reviews ) This way I don't have to use a regular debit/credit card to pay for the monthly services I'm going to use from the SIM card. After purchasing the card, go to the Vanilla eGift card website and set up an account to load funds to pay your monthly phone bill on your smartwatch - Smartwatch After activation When you turn on the smartwatch and the text Now get activated, insert the SIM card into the back of the watch. The first time I opened it, I used my fingernail. Next time I used a flat head screwdriver. Gently enough not to hurt, but with enough force to pry open one side by pulling on the exposed portion with your fingernail (do what works for you). Please see the attached image where you need to place the SIM card and SD card. The big silver plate rises, you insert the SIM card here and close the silver case again (call it what you will). ATTENTION! When you detach the SIM card from the plastic, DO NOT detach it for the smallest size. Take it off for a medium size. The SD card that comes with the smartwatch is inserted into a slot next to the silver SIM gizmo. Put the cover back on the watch. Again, as soon as I got the smartwatch, I charged it. Turn on the smartwatch by pressing and holding the button on the side. See the attached image to see how texts are entered into the smartwatch. The smartwatch has two icons to access the phone. Use the phone icon next to the calendar. The other phone icon displays a message that needs to be inserted into the SIM card. ALSO you can make a call from the main screen labeled "Menu”. When you press the "Menu" button, enter contacts/numbers so you can easily call. If I have additional updates I will post them. ++ 11/27/19 update++ I really like this smart watch for my son. Since I don't have it connected to my phone, other distractions don't bother me. He calls/messages and we call/message him. The battery lasts all your busy day (school/band/swimming) and charges at night. . Looks like he has a load left before he goes to bed. I don't know how long it can last on a single charge - I guess he's just used to charging it at night. - time day. The first time the time/day was set the day advanced too early so I figured out what time it was 1pm. I changed it to the correct day and it helped determine if it was morning or time (crazy I know). I didn't use that section, which had a lot of "12:00" pre-assigned. Not touched. However, in another section, I chose the "12 o'clock" time type. β€” lyrics. The text keyboard is similar to the keys on a telephone (see attached image) - with each number key representing a letter. Yes, it's a pain, but it really gets him to write what is necessary. He doesn't mind because he likes having a device to send texts while before he had nothing (no phone). - Calls Makes and receives calls very well. You can increase the volume. When you make/answer a call there will be a volume icon, press this button -Sound you can turn on the vibration or change sounds/tones -Instructions included, the words are so SMALL I had to use my son's magnifying glass to read the glass jar that is real! Anyway, it didn't help much. I would still say read this for what you can get from it. You will need a magnifying glass (no kidding). - SD card Soon it will upload music to SD card, let's see what's up with it. I'll let you know when he finds the time. I hope this long, detailed review will help parents who are considering getting one for their child. I can't talk about functions when connected to a mobile phone. ++ Updated 12/20/19++ Watch Strap The strap is very similar to the Apple SmartWatch strap. This is not a traditional watch strap. It's a bit unusual but stays in place and isn't uncomfortable or in the way. It's just a little more understandable for a child. My son loops it halfway through, then puts it on his wrist and tightens it once it's on his wrist. I did a little research to buy another inexpensive/untitled example with a traditional watch strap. I couldn't find one that could be used as a standalone phone. So we will still use this one. Internet not working. Thank goodness because we don't want this feature to be available to our 10 year old son. The Internet writes "Connecting", but it does not connect. ServiceEh service is not always stable in-house. T-Mobile, but you don't need it at home. Again, they're mainly used outside of the home to communicate with our son to confirm pickup and while plans have changed etc the smartwatch has done its job. Before you buy the mobile GSM SIM card of your choice, you can check the coverage online. Bluetooth. I ended up hooking it up to my phone just to see what it would be like if I wanted one for myself. That's good: it rings on my calls; I can answer/take calls; I can send/receive text messages. but other functions elude me. I need to download an application but I don't. So for what I paid for this smartwatch it's ok - it's not great, it's not cool, it will match the price. Old son traditional "cellphone" phone with all the bells and whistles and the internet. This smartwatch doesn't get distracted by those distractions like a standalone phone.
