Review on Highly Protective Power Strip: P8U2 Surge Protector with USB Charging Ports, 2630 Joules, Flat Plug, 8 Outlets by Flex Graham

Great device with no frills!

Good device, no frills, good value and from a reputable power protection company. You can buy much nicer devices and if you need HDMI/phone/internet cable protection then this isn't the device for you but it does have two secure USB ports and a high joule rating. The connectors are secure and the cable's ability to twist on the extension makes it very flexible and clean. It also cuts off power to your devices in the event of a strong power surge where others may continue to lose power after the power surge with reduced protection. It also has a green LED to indicate if the protection has been compromised over time or by a power surge anyway, although I've read elsewhere that these types of indicators shouldn't be trusted entirely, this is another visual aspect . APC states that if the LED does not work, the device will be replaced under warranty. This will also indicate if there is a problem with the outlet wiring. The only mistake I could make is that it would be nice if the device had more connector spacing. These days there doesn't seem to be two companies that can decide how to make their plugs/power adapters, some are long built into the cable, some are square and still others just have a regular cable with a plug. Another thing to keep in mind is that their defenses are limited. with time. Think of it like a bucket of water: one really big surge is likely to kill the device and empty the bucket, but over the years it can protect against hundreds of smaller surges and each one spills some water out of the bucket and after a while you offer much less protection than when new.

Pros
  • Surge protector for 8 outlets
Cons
  • Can't remember
