First, I wear size 13 shoes and the large strap fits me. I prefer tight rather than loose, especially with shoes. Now I'm 30 and I play basketball on the weekends. I grew up watching soccer, basketball and many other sports and my ankles are by far the weakest part of my body. I started wearing them because my ankles were a little sore from playing ball and I thought the brace would help without impeding movement. It took a week and I was wrong and sustained a pretty bad inversion sprain while wearing a brace. Like hearing the tapes burst. The moral of the story is that they are great for everyday use: walking, everyday activities, maybe even a light jog if the risk of rolling is minimal, but they are NOT FOR HIGH SPEED. , COMPETITIVE SPORTS. I have since settled on the ASO Speed Lace Evo and they are amazing. I still wear them on the days I get a headache but I'll be in the office right now but I've removed them from my gym bag. So I gave them 3 but maybe I used them wrong from the start.
