I installed this radio in my car as a replacement for a VHF only radio. It works well. The only reason I give it four stars for ease of use is that the display font is too small. Of course, this depends on where it is installed. Mine is on the center console under the dashboard. It can be read from the driver's seat, but I have to pinch a little. The speaker is on top, and the entire body acts as a heatsink. The radio has a small fan on the back for extra cooling needed during transmission. If you chew on a rag for a long time, you may need a larger radio that can dissipate heat faster.
