Review on Melissa & Doug Sunny Firefly LED Flashlight by Amanda Ellis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Handy for small children's hands, terribly weak light

For our little flashlight lover. We have a lot of Melissa and Doug toys that are really high quality and I didn't know they made toys that weren't made out of wood. I'm a little disappointed! PROS: The flashlight is quite chunky and grippy made out of rubber, which is great for little hands. The firefly theme is cute. The switch is a relatively small on/off deal. This seems like a better choice for kids than a button, so it's fine. There is a loop at the end in case you want to tie it to something and makes it easy to grab even for small hands. Probably hooked to a carabiner or something for easy access. CONS: The light is very, very dim. It's an LED, almost blue. It doesn't look like the softer, warm, or white glow of a regular flashlight. It requires 2 AA batteries which are not included. In terms of build quality and fit, it looks like a pretty typical cheap flashlight on the market, which I don't expect from M&D. All in all, this is a great item to keep your child occupied and give them the opportunity to use a flashlight without blinding everyone around them. But this is NOT a flashlight that you want to give the kids to even walk down the dark sidewalk while having fun.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
