This is my first iPod since Photo came out 5 years ago (although we have the Nano and Shuffle at home which I don't use). In the meantime, I had Creative Zen Photo and Microsoft Zune, which were good players but had their own quirks (the Zune got buggy and eventually stopped working, and the Zune software never worked properly with my files). This iPod is essentially the same as the old ones, just smaller and with a nicer interface. There are a couple of things worth noting: The USB cable on older iPods "snaps" onto the bottom of the player and you had to press on the sides of the connector to release it. The new cable is secure enough, but doesn't snap into place. This wouldn't be a huge issue if the cord was longer, but it's a bit short so you'll need to make sure it doesn't snag when you plug it into something. otherwise you can pull it out. - I don't like the headphones on this iPod. The old ones were a bit bigger and came with these fluffy things you put on the headphones. There is nothing superfluous about them, and the rubberized edges do not make it more convenient. From an audio perspective, it's fine as long as you don't turn up the volume too much or use an EQ that adds bass, as that puts too much strain on these headphones. - You can change the stream coverage setting in iTunes. , and this is probably recommended as inserting album art slows down the search process. Talk about. Obviously, you can no longer fine-tune the scroll wheel settings. On the old iPod, I could fiddle with making the wheel spin faster and be more sensitive to my touch, but that's not the case here. Navigating through menus and music lists can be nerve-wracking, and it sometimes takes a second or two to respond. This iPod still has a shiny metal back that looks nice at first glance, but gets dirty very easily. It would be nice to add a polishing cloth or something. **A NOTICE. I encountered an issue that caused the iPod to skip certain tracks in certain albums. For example I select song 1 and it jumps to song 10 as if the previous 9 songs weren't on the device for some reason. I'm trying to figure out how to fix this - apparently this is a common problem. The thing is, there's no way of knowing WHICH files aren't playing, and I'm NOT going through every single one of my 3600 songs! obviously caused by the way the files were created. After reloading in a different way (e.g. 192 kbps instead of VBR or vice versa) they usually worked. However, I did notice a few other annoyances, e.g. B. that if you have two albums with the same name, they show up as one with all the tracks mixed up and that the hold function sometimes freezes randomly or doesn't work at all. . However, I use my iPod almost every day and I have a hard time remembering what I did without it. ** TWO MORE NOTES: 1. If you have two albums with the same name, they will be mixed as one album with all songs displayed. I had to rename one of them just to play this album.2. "The" is considered a searchable word. All albums whose names begin with "The" appear under "The" in the album list. So if you're looking for "Space Gate" Thievery Corporation, you need to search for T, not C.
