My laptop suddenly died yesterday. My son, who specializes in computer programming, got me several Asus options he recommended and I ordered them from Revain, they arrived the next day. It seems great EXCEPT it has silver keyboard keys with a silver font for the characters. It was hard to see during the day, but I figured it was because of the bright office lighting and glare. It is night now and the keys are invisible in many rooms, with countless sources of light both for my children and for me. On a high quality Asus. Useless. Who knew making the keys so hard to see was a good idea? I tuned the model to the most exacting specs and I have a perfect laptop in every way, but I can't see the damn buttons. Like no one else in my family. Therefore there are two models, one with backlight, the other without. THIS HAS NO BACKLIGHT FUNCTION. Why on earth do they produce laptops with invisible letters that need at least a backlight and then sell non-backlit models? Wherever there is artificial or natural light, the keys are invisible. You have to move your head back and forth for each keypress to pull the key out of the markers to see the letter. I am very very disappointed and Asus support is separate from the main office and cannot help. They should have let me speak to someone who could explain how to use this design or suggest replacing it with a backlit version. Instead I have to go through Revain to get it back when I think Asus customer service should have been everywhere. Extremely disappointed in the product AND the customer service. They sent me to an online form which has a tech loop that goes nowhere and no customer support phone number other than a call center which is unhelpful and has no direct number for Asus. I went to the Internet to search for Asus and chose the manufacturer, did not go to the manufacturer and chose Asus. My relationship is with Asus in my opinion and they should be the ones to fix things. I'm shocked that such an obvious design flaw was ever approved and launched and it changed my mind about Asus. give it back
