Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Enhanced Nintendo DSi XL Red Bundle with Mario Kart for an Immersive Gaming Experience by Richard Gross

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Awesome limited edition bundle featuring the best DS!

Although 3ds is coming soon (I'm not a fan of 3d) I bought this package. I already have a Mario Kart DS but for $10 it's going to be red and that's what sold me. Also, I am selling a toy wagon on Amazon (it comes in its original packaging so you can list it as new). I bought the DS Lite and was blown away by the difference in screen size and sharpness. Battery life is also much longer, even at default brightness. The sound through the speakers is still terrible, but with headphones (I use Sennheiser HD) it's nice. Mario stickers are well affixed and show no signs of etching. There is also a very large red pin (found on all DSI XLs). So if you don't have a Mario Kart DS, or if you're like me and remember playing Super Mario Bros. over 20 years ago, go for this special edition. . I have a soft spot for Mario and smile fondly at those memories every time I see this DS. In terms of gaming, the DS is, in my humble opinion, the best system out there for quality gaming. If you want flashy, cinematic games then play the PS3 (which I have). But I spend ten times more time on the DS than on the PS3 just because of the sheer volume of great games. They're not the flashiest games with the biggest budgets, but what they lack in flash they make up for in content (for the most part!). If you're a fan of classic RPGs, there's never been a better system - all the great NES and SNES RPGs are being remastered for this system, which is great news! There are only a few PSP games I'd love to use on the DS, although I know the hardware is different (FF Crisis Core, FFT War of Lions and a few others), but it's not a good idea to play instead getting a PSP a DS just for a few games. Some of the games to explore are: Mario and Bowser, Mario Kart, FF3, Crono Trigger, all Dragon Quest games, everything by Atlus (especially Disgea), Castlevania OoE, Zelda (both), Pokemon, Nostalgia, FF Warriors of Light, Mega Man Zero Collection and more! Seriously, a retro gamer's dream come true! The larger XL also fits better in adult hands (although it's thin enough to be good for kids). The headphone jack is still a little close to the bottom-right edge, and the top is a little wobbly when open (you'll have to learn from Gateway laptops what to do about it). but that's my only complaint. To sum it up: big screen = cheers, great package with mario kart, nice color, overall great system, bigger and slightly better for adult hands, great games library. Buy now!
