No stereo mics, not even standard sound quality

Webcam worked as advertised right out of the box. The video quality was acceptable and the ring lights were bright enough. However, the microphone was unusable as several others reported. With the webcam right in front of my face, I could barely get my mic level above 20%, and friends told me I sound muffled and inaudible because the noise filter on Zoom, Discord, etc. couldn't pick my voice well enough. The wiggling of the cable generated a significant amount of noise, indicating that the microphone was blocked by the housing (sounds inside the camera housing are picked up loud and clear). This was confirmed by flipping the camera and speaking into the hole on the back of the webcam and even looking into the microphone hole when the LEDs were on. The microphone is not where the hole is. What about stereo microphones? This photo is from my system's microphone settings. It cannot go above 1 channel and not above the lowest possible quality. This quality issue can be responsible for poor audio. I gave it a star back because the video itself is good, but I had already uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (loaded automatically by Windows), rebooted and compared to another webcam. make sure it is not a system problem. bad quality, bad position of the microphone in the case.
