Review on Grain-Free Freeze Dried Raw Meals Recipe For Dogs - Instinct Dog Food by Gina Robinson

Why So Expensive? The freeze drying process is not.

Calling this product a meal is a misnomer. It should be labeled as a food topper at the price they charge. I have a Wolfdog and a German Shepherd; two very large dogs. I used to feed them raw, the BARF way. One day, my Wolfdog stopped eating the raw food. He’s very picky. I now buy them frozen human grade, slightly cooked dog food meals that are delivered to my home. My Wolfdog loved it at first. My German Shepherd will eat anything. I decided to try Instinct’s Freeze Dried Raw Food as a topper. I give my GSD a half cup added to her food, since I want to maintain her weight; and my WD gets three quarters of a cup; his metabolism is what I wish I had! Unfortunately, a 25 oz bag lasts me only about six days. I called Instinct to find out if the food is available in a larger size bag size, which I know would cost a fortune, but I thought it might be a better buy. It’s very expensive at about $50/25 oz bag. They told me it’s expensive because of the freeze drying process. I worked in the food and flavor industry and freeze-drying is not expensive. So, I’m paying a fortune, buying 25 oz bags of Instinct Freeze dried raw dog food almost every week. I also rotate, adding sardines, tuna, or sweet potatoes to their meals. So, I’d like to know exactly why this product is so expensive.
