Review on Vibrant Color Changing Replacement: TOVEENEN 500Watt Incandescent Bulb by Mike Nix

Upgrading Hayward Astro Pool Lights to LEDs went really bad!

I was very excited when I saw this upgrade option for my Hayward Astro pool light. My 300 watt pool light burned out and I bought this light to upgrade to LED. It worked for one night and seemed to light up the pool very well with nice colors and more than normal light. I immediately noticed problems with the remote control, like others (according to customers), related to the need to be very close to the pool lights in order for the remote control to turn on and off. Sometimes the remote would get stuck and not work at all. The next evening I turned on the pool's LED light, it lit up for a second and immediately turned off the GFCI button on the 3-pin socket on the main unit. So after some research I replaced the GFCI socket and light switch which were still corroded. that still didn't solve the problem. I took the light out of the pool, took out the LED and put in a regular bulb to see if the LED was the problem and I noticed there was a gap in the black silicone next to the socket with a small burn mark on a wire or something that is then shorted next to the socket in the base. I was fine. It's time for me to call pool repair. So I called my pool guy and he replaced the HAYWARD ASTRO light and the wire that runs through the line to the box. He had checked earlier and found that the wire was indeed shorted at the base of the outlet in the Hayward Pool light. So now I'm stepping in for $130 for an LED, $600 for a Hayward pool light replacement. plus $40.00 for GFCI and light switch. My pool guy said I'm his 5th customer this month buying these type of LEDs from Revain and I had to replace all the pool lights that had failed. He said please DO NOT put LEDs back into the Hayward Astro, they are NOT designed for LEDs, they are designed to dissipate heat. he believes that this problem is caused by upgrading the LEDs. The Hayward Astro light has heating coils under silicone and apparently the resistance (NOT current) is causing the RF remote and heating coils to malfunction and short out the outlet. . He said the 300w bulb bar said he was seeing more and more issues with replacing and repairing Hayward Colorlogic LEDs. The only reason I wrote this review is in the hope that it will help anyone else who is thinking of replacing their UNDERWATER filament bulb with LED, don't do it! Talk to your friend at the pool.
