Review on 3M Paint Project Respirator Medium by Juan Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not for medical use or in public if you are concerned about the spread of the coronavirus

I give this mask 5 stars because it is designed and works very well. However, these masks were not designed for pandemic or medical use, and you should not just assume that they can be used without doing some research first. I tried to point this out in the Q&A, but Amazon wouldn't let me. He says he didn't buy it. Um, yes, my purchase was 4 years ago, so programming errors. In any case, they are not intended for medical use. If people use them well, they shouldn't, or they just choose to ignore a glaring flaw, which is this one. The exhalation port is not filtered. The exhalation part is the round part in front. This connector has a rubber plug that only opens in one direction. When you inhale, the valve closes and air enters through the inhalation port and attached filters. When you exhale, breath and water vapor are expelled through the valve on the exhalation port. If you're not worried about infecting others, that's fine, but medical masks need to filter both inhalation and exhalation. I know a lot of people use them including medical staff who should know better so don't believe me. Do your own research and check what I'm saying. But then again, when you breathe in these masks, the air enters through the filters on the sides, and when you breathe out, it exits through the unfiltered opening in the middle. Why they stopped selling them and now only sell to healthcare professionals I have no idea. I've heard some people say they use them in their hospitals and others say they're banned, so do your own research. If you're a healthcare professional, test first before using. Use common sense. Even if you are dealing with people who are already infected, get tested beforehand. C19 is not the only infectious disease and we are approaching flu season. If someone is already immunocompromised, use a mask that filters both inhalation and exhalation. don't trust me I get no compensation for this. I'm just upset at how they were pulled off the market for healthcare professionals who shouldn't be using them when they have another, safer alternative. don't trust me Visit the CDC website and read for yourself. They make it clear that no mask, whether this or others that don't have an exhalation filter, should be used to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. And now there are studies showing that these masks actually help spread the coronavirus because they concentrate the water vapor someone expels. Can you use them publicly? Sure, but if you don't have filters, it's not very good. However, they are very comfortable to wear. You do look like a freak with filters though, so I made some filter cartridges out of some dust masks I had and then inserted them into the inlets and then taped them in place; Yes it works, but you'll have to experiment to find the balance between filtering and breathing. Also, as with all masks, you should make sure that they fit snugly against your face. If it's too loose, you'll just suck air through the sides and probably won't even notice. I also added filters to the exhalation port and pulled the mask over the entire mask so the kids wouldn't be scared. Probably not as effective as an N95 mask, but better than cloth or plastic masks and reusable. Before this coronavirus I used it for everything from gardening to woodworking to painting. Dust masks are a nuisance because they don't fit properly and fall off. Filters are relatively expensive for them, but there is no law against reusing filters. The only problem is that due to the virus, filters are now harder to find and prices have skyrocketed, as have respirators. Hf doesn't even carry masks other than surgical ones, which is a shame because they also had a very good respirator.
